Anna Lemnitzer

My current work is based upon concepts that investigate and illustrate the portrayal of psychological disorders. An interest in mental states and perceptions of the human condition are just a few of the driving forces in my investigations. Psychiatric literature, interviews and stories, such as Charlotte Perkins Gilman's The Yellow Wallpaper and Lainey Robertson's The Insanity of Mary Gerard are among the sources I reference in my research. Merging performance, architectural aspects, found objects and painting with my process, I attempt to visually capture and understand the psychological elements that are specific in their effects and manifestations.
